Mixing Old with New for a Vintage Styled Christmas Table
I love the look of mixing old with new in my home. Something stark white against something that has aged. Old wood against newer wood. Antique amber bottles against white dishes. It’ s a very calming feeling for me, and that’s what I was going for this Christmas.
I shared with you all my Antique Amber and Neutral Fall Decor and how my plan was to use the amber bottles for fall, Christmas, and winter. Because I use so many neutrals, it’s always a pretty easy transition into the different seasons. I basically use all the same stuff; I just move it around and change out my floral/greenery. And I will buy a few new things, but not much.
I used most of what I had on my Antique/Vintage Table Setting for Fall to change up my table for Christmas. The linens on my table that I used for placemats and a table scarf, were actually just a piece of fabric. I cut out 4 rectangles for the placemats and used the rest of the fabric for the middle of the table. Ya gotta be creative when you have a vision and don’t want to spend the money to get more linens.
After I washed the lines and cleaned the, I put everything back where it was except for the plates and glasses. I changed out the fall floral and added artificial greenery. Now, Once December gets here, I will be changing that out to Cedar, but it’s too early for that right now.
The only thing I added in was the deer, one small amber bottle, the chargers, and 2 red and white ornaments. My sister bought me the ornaments and I LOVE them. They added enough color and gave it more of that vintage feel that I was going for.
I swapped out the plates for white ones with the gold rim, added different amber glasses, and changed the napkin rings. I DID change the candlesticks, because it wasn’t flowing with the one that was already there, so I just switched it out with some I had on my kitchen shelf. The flour sack towels stayed, and I added a couple springs of artificial greenery to those too.
I love the feel this table is giving and I’m really excited about decorating the rest of the house in a vintage styled theme. Can’t wait to share more with you as I get it done, so stay tuned in!
