Neutral Fall Fireplace

Can I just tell ya’ll how much I LOVE my fall fireplace?? This is really the first year I have decorated my whole fireplace for fall. It was so much fun seeing it all come together. I took my time working on it so I would get it exactly the way I wanted it. About every couple days I would add a little something to it until I was pleased. That is definitely the key to creating a beautiful home! Do a little at a time until you get it the way you want it!

When I started decorating my mantle, I knew the first thing I wanted was some fall garland. Now, I didn’t have any, so I found a few things in my craft room and created my own. After they were finished, I hung them in a layered look until I had them just right. This garland turned out to be exactly what I wanted and the neutral colors ya’ll……they were PERFECT!

Once I had these done, I worked on the top of my mantle. We have our TV above our fireplace, so I really only like to decorate a little on each end. When I am redecorating or changing things up in my house, I am always moving things from place to place. That way I get a different look without having to buy anything new. Then, if I don’t have what I’m looking for, I can craft something to go in that particular spot. That’s exactly what I did on the right side of my mantle. I knew I wanted to keep things neutral throughout the whole fireplace, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for in my fall decorations, so I crafted this cute wood block pumpkin. It was super easy and it was the perfect size for that spot.

How CUTE is that?? Oh my gosh it was literally the easiest craft I have ever done!! And what is it about dark stain? I Love it!! The antique cheese grater that became my vase, breaks up the dark stain in the pumpkin and the pedestal. So when that was done, I went to the left side. I pretty much knew what I was going to put on that side and had everything I needed.

Once I was done with the top of the mantle, I started working on the fireplace itself. I’ve never covered up my fireplace, but this year I wanted to do something different. I knew I wanted a sign that would be large enough to cover it, but I didn’t want to buy one. With a little help from my hubby Jacob, my precious niece Meah, and my awesome girl Morgan, we made this beautiful sign just for that purpose. Because I don’t have a hearth (which is going to be one of my projects this fall) and wanted to raise the sign just a little, I flipped a large wooden box upside down and rested the sign on the box. It does the job for right now. I mean sometimes we just gotta improvise! Then, I added some artificial greenery and a ceramic pumpkin for a little bit of color to tie it all in.

Now I just needed to add some final touches. On one side, I used my wooden lantern that Jacob and I made from scrap wood and set a wooden pumpkin (that I had crafted from one of our family craft nights) inside the lantern. On the other side, I threw an afghan in a wooden crate and laid a couple pillows and a pumpkin on top of the afghan.

That was it! Y’all, this is the first time I have really LOVED the way my fireplace has looked! It didn’t cost me but $12 and that was for the cost of the wood for the sign. Everything else I had on hand. This just goes to show us all that you don’t have to spend lots of money for a beautiful display. As long as you get creative and use what you already have on hand. Decorating on a budget can be so much fun!! I hope this has inspired you to get creative and decorate your fireplace in a style that you love and on a budget that’s right for you!
