Easy and Inexpensive DIY Trees for your Neutral Christmas

Since my aunt doesn’t share her love for decorating and DIYing on social media or the web, she always takes pictures and sends them to me so I can share them with you. This year, she changed the paint in her house from gray to a cream and is decorating with more neutral tones for Christmas and winter. This woman has tons of Christmas decorations, but sometimes she likes to do a little crafting too, so she made some trees to put on her windowsill and they turned out really cute!

Let me tell you something about my Aunt Vicky, that woman is a BARGAIN SHOPPER! She never buys anything unless it’s on sale and she also shops the thrift stores! She hit up one of her local thrift stores and found a couple syrofoam trees for like $.50 each and ordered some more from Amazon. While she was at the thrift store, she found this tan scarf. What I do not know, is if she had a vision of using this scarf for the tree or not, but it was pretty dang clever to use it for crafting!

The only other things she used was a hot glue gun and scissors. OH, and she HIGHLY recommends those finger protectors, because she MAY have burnt her fingers multiple times! She also recommends buying those things in bulk! Hehehe!!

Vicky sent me a couple pics as she was crafting these trees, so let me show those to you.

It’s pretty much self-explanatory, but basically, all she did was glue the scarf around the tree and cut off the access. With the other trees, she just wrapped one of those in jute and another one in cream colored cord and hot glued them in place all while burning her fingers. Don’t burn your fingers, just wear the protectors!

What do you think?? Didn’t they turn out cute? I love them and this has definitely inspired me to make some for next year. Y’all know I love all the neutrals!
