DIY Wood Pumpkin Craft
I love it when I can go to my craft room and find stuff to make a cute craft without having to go to the store. Well thats what I did here! I was looking through some of my craft totes and found these wooden egg shapes from the Dollar Tree.
Since it’s almost fall, I’m clearly not thinking about Easter, but I knew I could create a cute pumpkin out of these eggs. So, I grabbed a few more supplies and got creative.
The card stock came from a pack of fall paper from Hobby Lobby and I found these cute napkins at the Dollar General (I really don’t know why I’m obsessed with napkins). My thought was to mod podge the paper to 2 of the oval (eggs) wood shapes for the sides of the pumpkin and use the napkin on the third pumpkin. That one was gonna go in the middle.
I went ahead and traced 2 of the shapes on the back of the card stock and cut them out (these were for the sides of my pumpkin). I mod podged them to the ovals and sanded around it to smooth out the edges.
Then, I separated the napkin, cut out one of the squares and mod podged it to the third oval. I trimmed off the excess napkin with scissors and then sanded the rest to smooth the edges on this one too.
Once they were sanded, I glued the shapes together to form a pumpkin and added a wooden piece to the center for the stem.
There was only one step left and that was to add a bow. So, I grabbed a few scraps of material, some raffia and some twine and created a rag bow and hot glued it to the stem.
My cute little pumpkin was done! I think the colors are fun on this pumpkin, but you can use whatever colors are you! You could even just paint or stain the ovals instead of using card stock and napkins. Get creative and make it your own! You can do so many different things to create a really cute pumpkin!
