Christmas Kitchen Shelf Decor
I always have such a hard time decorating this area in my home. One would think that it wouldn’t be that difficult, but it just is. I literally struggle with it every single time I change it out.
This Christmas, I wanted to throw things back to my childhood. I LOVED Christmas when I was young! I love it still, but it’s just different. Anyway, I started thinking about how my mom used greenery around the house. She actually used live cedar! She would go out to the woods and cut it and put it on our mantle, on the piano, in the bathroom, and in other areas throughout the house. It always looked so pretty and smelled SO GOOD!!
Now because I like to decorate so early, I can’t use live cedar, but that’s okay because that just means I can enjoy our decorations a little bit longer!
After weeks of thinking about what I was going to do in that spot, I pulled out my Christmas totes and just started added things to the shelf. I changed it up so many times that Jacob finally looked at me and said, “ HONEY…..WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” I just explained to him that when I have a vision I don’t want to stop until it’s right.
When I’m decorating a shelf, I always work on the ends first and then work my way to the middle. I like different heights, so I started with these trees and this sleigh.
I bought this sleigh last year at the Dollar General. It was one of those you had to assemble and either paint or stain. The cute sign came from Walmart this year and was less than $2.00. The trees and the deer I’ve had for a couple years.
Once I put those on the shelf, I added some greenery and some picks I picked up at Hobby Lobby.
On the other end, I added one more tree. I put this one in a old tin I pilfered from my mom years ago. It fit perfectly!
And of course I added some more greenery and picks!
Beside that, is a sign I got from my mom a few years ago as a Christmas gift. It was tall enough that I didn’t have to hang it up and was able to set it on the shelf. Thank GOODNESS because I did not want to put more holes in my wall!
I kept the greenery flowing and added a couple ornaments to throw in some color.
Then, I finished it off by adding this tree trunk vase. I added some greenery and some berries for a little color.
Y’all know I had to add some fairy lights too!! Whoever invented those was a genius! Mine have a timer on them so I don’t have to cut them on and off and they make everything so much better!
Simple yet classic……
