DIY Cedar Grapevine Wreath For The Winter Holidays
We all have those smells from Christmas pasts. Those decorations that we had in our homes growing up that our moms would decorate with every year. I have so many memories from my childhood, but one that really stands out is the smell of fresh cedar. My mom used cedar all throughout the house for Christmas and our house would always smell SO good.
Last year, I decided to make a wreath using cedar. I had everything I needed at home, I just had to cut some cedar from the woods.
Now, I HIGHLY recommend wearing long sleeves and gloves! Cedar can really irritate your skin and it is also a bit prickly. So, with my gloves and long sleeves, I headed out to the woods to cut up some tree limbs. We have LOTS of little cedar trees in our woods, so I had a bunch to choose from.
I spread all that cedar out on my table and started putting pieces together. I was going for more of a swag look, so I just played with the cedar until I got the look I wanted. Once I had that look, I used floral wire to tie the limbs together. I cannot even tell how good my house was smelling when I cut the ends off those limbs!! It is one of my favorite smells!
After I fastened the cedar to my wreath, it was time to make a bow. Now I am NOT a bow maker, so I most always use the Re-Fabbed bow because it’s so easy. I had tons of ribbon, but wanted to go with neutrals, so this is what I chose.
After I got that bow together, I just tied it to my wreath and that was it!! The EASIEST wreath I have ever made! It’s simple, it’s inexpensive, it’s pretty, and it SMELLS SO GOOD!!
