Best Stores For Decorating On A Budget
About 4 years ago I really started getting into home decor. I would spend hours scrolling through Pinterest getting ideas of ways to decorate. It was so inspiring!! I loved to look at all the talent and all the beautiful decorations. I remember sitting down finding myself looking around my house and thinking of ways I could make my home beautiful. The only problem was that home decor can be really expensive. I knew I couldn’t afford to decorate the way that a lot of people were decorating their homes, but I knew if I would just get a little creative I could really make our home look just as beautiful, but on a budget.
If you are in the same boat, and you know you want to make your home beautiful, but don’t think you can afford it, then know that you absolutely can! It doesn’t take a lot of money to decorate your living room, or give your bedroom or bathroom a beautiful makeover. If you are one that doesn’t decorate your home because it’s expensive, then hopefully these tips will help you. Sometimes we just have to think outside the box.
The first thing I realized was that I wasn’t thinking OUTSIDE THE BOX. I was thinking I had to buy things to go on my wall instead of creating them myself. Crafting is something I’ve always enjoyed, but I never really crafted things for my home. I knew I needed to do that if I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Now, my home may not have those expensive paintings on the walls or beautiful crystal vases, but that’s not my style anyway. Other people may not like the way I decorate my home or may not like handmade crafts or old frames from Goodwill and that’s okay!! My husband reminded me this evening that it doesn’t matter if no one else likes it. What matters is what you like and what makes you happy. So find your style and what works for you and looks good in your home. Get creative and crafty! You will be so surprised at what you can create.
Now, let me share with you some of my favorite stores that I hope will help you create something beautiful for your home.
- Check out your local Dollar Tree and Dollar General Stores often. Dollar Tree has really stepped up their game y’all! Be sure to check out their crafting isle. They have been stocking lots of wooden items.
- Discount stores such as Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx. These stores have lots of cute home decor and you can usually find them at a reasonable price.
- Hobby Lobby!!! Y’all, Hobby Lobby is not expensive! They always have sales and you can find 40% coupons online. Also, be sure to check out the clearance isles, especially at the end of each season.
- Antique Stores. Don’t let the word “antiques” throw you off and think that they are expensive. They are usually set up with different booths and people sell all types of things, not just antiques. I always the cutest things for my kitchen and they are usually no more than about $10.
- Walmart y’all…of course Walmart! There fall decor was super cute this year and really inexpensive. I mean you can find anything at Walmart!
I can always find something at these stores that I listed. Focusing on one area at a time is always easier for me. Get an idea of how you want to decorate that specific area and then you will know more of what you are looking for. Remember to think outside the box! If you see something that you like but it may not be exactly what you’re looking for, then think about what it COULD be. How could you create it to look like something you ARE looking for? I hope this has inspired y’all to get creative and crafty! Decorating my home is something that I love and I hope we can share that love together. Remember, it’s your home so make it yours.
