Wood Plaque Bunny

When the middle of February hits, I am DONE with winter! I get some serious spring fever! I’m so ready for lots of sunshine, warmer weather, and longer days.

Soooo, I decided it was time to do a little crafting and started with this cute wood bunny plaque.

Here is what I used:

  • Wood plaque
  • A bunny stencil
  • Stain
  • Paper towels
  • White paint
  • 2 paint brushes
  • Sanding block
  • Cotton ball
  • Ribbon
  • Glue gun and glue stick

I started by staining the wood plaque with Minwax stain in the color Special Walnut. Any stain will do and the color is your preference. 🙂

After I stained the whole plaque, I wiped it down with a paper towel and let it dry. Be sure to let the stain dry completely, because you will be painting over the stain and if it’s not dry, it will be kinda gooey. I made the mistake of being impatient and not letting the stain dry.

So once the stain is dry, position your bunny stencil on the board where you want it and trace the bunny.

I used a pencil but then went over it with white paint. After that, I started painting white paint around the bunny, covering the rest of the board.

The one thing I would change about this step is using a sponge instead of a paint brush. I would’ve had more control with a sponge. This was after one coat of paint.

Once I applied the second coat and let that dry, I took the sanding block and sanded the white paint.

When that was done, I grabbed some ribbon and made a bow.

This is the ribbon I chose for the bunnies bow tie. All I did was cut the ribbon to the size I needed, pinched it in the middle, and tied a thin piece of burlap to the center.  I glued it to his neck and glued the cotton ball to his tail.

That’s it y’all!! He turned out to be a handsome little bunny don’t you think??
