25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

My mom tends to go way overboard for Christmas. She loves to buy for all her children and grandchildren, but it can get really expensive. We always tried to tell her she needed to scale back, but she had a really hard time because it truly brings her so much joy buying for others.

When my dad got sick, she decided it was time. He wasn’t able to help her anymore and with a family of 20 plus, she didn’t have the time or the help. So, she decided to start a new tradition. THE 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS!!

Each family gets a total of 25 gifts. One gift for each day from Dec. 1st – Dec. 25th. My mom always gets the perfect gifts and makes it personal for each family. She knows our favorite snacks, our favorite cookies, our hobbies, knows that we love neat little gadgets, that she always seems to find, and always gets a couple gifts that we need.

This is such a good idea for anyone, but especially for parents and grandparents. My siblings and I ended up starting this a few years ago for my mom too. Each family buys 5 gifts, we wrap them, and give them to her on Thanksgiving night so she will have them by Dec. 1st. My dad passed away in 2015, and even though it’s been 5 years, holidays are still really hard. This gives my mom a little something extra to look forward to during the Christmas season.

My children are teenagers and love these gifts too. They take turns opening the gifts and it’s the first thing they do when they wake up during the month of December. If these gifts make teenagers excited, could you imagine what it would do for a parent who is widowed, grandparents who don’t get out very often, or loved ones in a nursing home? It’s all about finding joy and spreading the Christmas Spirit!

So I want to share with y’all some ideas for these gifts. Remember that you can personalize them a bit to fit the person you are buying for.

1) Favorite Salty Snack – Everyone has a favorite salty snack!

2) Fuzzy Socks or Slippers – I’m a sucker for fuzzy socks. I literally wear them everyday! Either of these make a great gift.

3) Batteries – These are a necessity! I don’t know about y’all, but I’m always needing batteries and never ever have them.

4) Toothbrushes and Toothpaste – Now you may think this is a crazy gift, but these are both always needed. My family gets really excited over a new toothbrush ha! It’s all about the small things.

5)Fleece Throw – You can get these for like $5.00 at Walmart. You don’t have to get the $20.00 ones.

6) Calendar – You can get these at Walmart too.

7) Hand Soap – Bath And Body Works puts their hand soaps on sale around Thanksgiving for a great deal and they smell sooooo good!

8) Hand Towels or Shop Towels – Hand towels for the female, shop towels for the male.

9) Scratch Tickets – Perfect for any age!! I mean who doesn’t get excited over scratch tickets??

16) Crossword Puzzles and Word Finds – Listen guys….grandparents love these!

17) New Pillows – This sounds like a crazy gift, but they are inexpensive and it’s not something that people usually buy. My family actually fought over pillows one year playing Dirty Santa HA!

18) Favorite Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate – You can’t go wrong with any of these.

19) Light Bulbs – Why light bulbs as a gift?? Well, they are like batteries. Everyone needs them, but don’t always have them on hand.

20)Puzzle or game – Great for any age.

21) Oven Mitt and Brownie Mix – I know you guys have seen this as a gift idea before. This gift never gets old.

22) Coffee Mugs – They have so many cute coffee mugs! They aren’t expensive either. You can even get the plain ones at the Dollar Store and personalize them yourself.

23) Tissues and Tissue Holder – If you are crafty, you can always make a tissue holder, but if not, you can get a cheap one at Walmart.

24) Candles or Air fresheners – You can get candles pretty cheap and air fresheners too. I love the plug ins at Bath And Body Works. They run them on sale pretty often. These are not just gifts for a female either guys! Jacob and Julius like them too.

25) Photo Album filled with pictures – Looking through photo albums is always fun. This is also a great gift for grandparents.

So there you go guys! Great gift ideas for THE 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS! Remember to personalize them. That’s what makes them so special. Think about who would not only love this, but who would NEED this for this Christmas Season. Spread some Christmas JOY!
