Wood Slice Buffalo Check Christmas Ornament
Last Christmas I wanted to decorate my house with everything buffalo check. I know I was a late bloomer with this whole style, but I knew I would love it! So, I started off picking up items that would go with my theme. The first thing I bought was a $5.00 buffalo check table cloth I found at this Christmas market that my mother-in-law and I went to. It was definitely the bargain of the day! I knew I wouldn’t really use it on my table, but I had lots of ideas with that table cloth.
The first thing I decided to do was to make ornaments for my tree. I had a bunch of wood slices my father-in-law cut for me from a tree limb, and I knew they would make some super cute ornaments! So of course my mind got to spinning and I finally came up with an idea! I had everything I needed at home and was ready to create my first ornament.
So the first thing I did was cut out a circle from the table cloth that would fit on my wood slice. If you guys don’t have anyone to cut wood slices for you, you can definitely buy them at any craft store or from Amazon. You may even be able to find them at your local Dollar Tree!
After you cut out your circle, you will need to mod podge it to your wood slice. Don’t worry about the circle being perfect or worrying that the fabric is fraying. That will just give the ornament more character!
Once that was done, I cut out a reindeer using my Cricut Expression, the Christmas Card Cartridge, and white vinyl. Now this cricut is NOT new. I have had it for years and have not upgraded yet. If you don’t have a cricut, that’s totally fine! You can still make this ornament using any kind of sticker. Check out the scrapbooking isle at your local craft store or Walmart and you will find something that works for you!
The only thing left to do is add a hanger to the back. If you prefer, you could drill a hole in the top of the ornament and run a piece of jute or twine through the hole. I just cut a piece of twine, made a loop with it, and hot glued it to the back.
That’s it!! See how simple that ornament was?? Literally anyone can make this ornament! So easy, simple, and, cheap!
I hope this will inspire ya’ll to get crafty and create some of your own ornaments for your tree! Ya’ll be sure to follow my Facebook and Instagram page for some mor Christmas crafts and decorating tips for Christmas 2020!
