What You Need to Create a Natural Christmas
My goal this Christmas is to create this whole natural feel in our home. I want it to feel calming and peaceful. I have been all over Pinterest getting ideas and being inspired and have come up with some ideas of my own and I know I will need to do some DIY’s and crafting. I wanted to share with you some things you will need to create that look and feel for a natural Christmas if this is something you want to do too.
I decided a while ago, that this year, I was going to use Antique Amber for my fall, Christmas, and winter decorations. I cannot wait to see what an easy transition this is going to be! So hit up your local antique stores and get you some amber bottles!
Okay, so here are some other things you will need if you’re going for this look and feel too!
You’re gonna need a PLETHORA of white or cream candles! It doesn’t matter what shapes or sizes; you need them all! Dollar Tree has plenty, no need to spend a lot on them. Of course, if you prefer flameless candles then you will spend a little bit more money.
GOLD! Gold candlesticks, gold trees, gold deer, mirrors, anything gold! Now listen, I have seen some DIY’s using rub n buff and I cannot wait to try it! I have some black deer that I’m going to sample with this rub n buff, so I will let y’all know how it turns out. You can get it at Hobby Lobby where the stains and paints are, and I bought the antique gold.
Wood bead garlands or just wood beads, because you can literally use them anywhere in your house. I have both and I’m going to make a few ornaments with the wood beads. You can use the garland anywhere! On your mantle or on your tree, in a vase or bowl, literally anywhere. So, grab a few of those if you don’t have them.
Greenery. Now I usually use artificial greenery, but I really want to use some Cedar. I don’t have a solution to keeping it fresh for the Holidays, but I plan on doing some research to see the best way to keep it from drying out. If you don’t want to use that, you can use artificial. I will probably use both. Also, if you don’t have small artificial trees, grab a few of those too!
Brown paper bags. These are to make some snowflakes. I made some last year, and they are really easy and brown paper bags are cheap. You can set these on shelves, on cabinets, or hang them from your ceiling.
Orange slices and cinnamon. These are for making ornaments and MAYBE a garland. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to make one, but I’m definitely going to make some ornaments.
Clear glass ornaments. These are for crafting. You can do so much with clear ornaments! Since I’m using amber jars, I really want to try to create that amber look by mixing mod podge with food coloring and adding it into the ornament. You can find the how to on Pinterest or TikTok. I will keep y’all posted on how that turns out too!
Woods and whites!! Pedestals, dishes, white linens, more dishes, vases, flour sack towels, you get the idea. This is going to give you that clean look. If you follow these Easy Home Decorating tips, then you will already have a lot of these things on hand.
Okay, that’s it! I hope this will help you narrow down what you need. Don’t overthink it and keep it simple! I’m so exciting to see how all this comes together and I hope you are too!!
